James Hunter is well known for his writing on the history and struggles of the Gael, here he turns his attention to his adopted home of Skye. The book is a combination of conversations with Islanders, historical background and contemporary observation - all combining to evoke an effective picture of An t-Eilean - The Island.
Gaelic broadcaster and journalist Cailean Maclean provides the photographs.
This is not really suitable as a guide to the Island for most visitors, rather it is a book for the person wanting to dig a little deeper into the life, history and psyche of the Island.
