Glasnakille is tiny village (even smaller than Elgol) on the east side of the Strathaird peninsular. The village offers fine views over Loch Slapin to the Sleat Peninsular, the Small Isles and the Mainland beyond.
Starting by the Cuillin View tearoom, the two mile road from Elgol reaches Glasnakille at a T-junction; the path to the Spar Cave starts a short distance to the right, Rowan Cottage is to the left.
As the road climbs over to Glasnakille there may be fine views back over Elgol village and to the Cuillin beyond.
100m south (i.e. to the right, if arriving from Elgol) of the road junction in Glasnakille isa ruined stone barn on the righthand side of the road. From here a rough path leads down to the rocky shoreline and, if the tide is low enough, to the Spar Cave.
This view, from the head of the path, close to the barn, looks over the mouth of Loch Slapin to Eigg and beyond that to Ardnamurchan.
Cliffs on the Glasnakille coastline, looking across Loch Slapin towards Sleat from a path south of the village.
